yea and usually consistently slower

What's slower, mis-shifting or a slushbox? I'm not saying auto is better, because for performance it's not. I'm just saying it's easier to drive, especially on the strip.

i shall chime in on this one. its been a while....

anyway

i beleive that the fastest 5-6 speed car is in the 8's while the fastest autos run in the 6's.

for drag racing it doent really matter (to me) if you have auto or stick.

however on the track ( the real track) i would much rather have stick, dsg, smg, etc.etc.etc. ill leave the auto for the pansies

oh and on the subject of the charger..... i think its gonna be a pooper.

The charger is ugly. Dodge seems to believe putting a hemi under the hood can make their ugly cars suddenly popular. It's ok though, cause GM thinks the same thing. Next Gen Monte Carlo and Impala SS (both ugly) get a 5.3L "LS2" making 303hp. The charger will be reaonably quick, my money however says it is no faster than a G35 3.5 6spd (5.7 0-60).

As for a slushbox being faster, in a word. no.

IF you can't drive, then yes, you will miss shifts. I haven't missed a shift racing in better than two years. If you understand engineering, you'll understand a stick means more horespower to the road. You lose horsepower in the torque convertor of an auto when it is uncoupled in first and second. Also, autos tend to have fewer gears. A corvette is a solid second slower to sixty with an auto. Cars that wind up high are even worse. An Acura RSX-S is 1.5 seconds slower with the autobox. That's a good autobox too. So if a slushbox is faster for you, I'm sorry, you can't drive.
